Leather bag #144 from Burda 4/2007

Added Apr 6, 2013

Waycross, New Yo...

I slightly changed the original design ( just made it easier). The inside of the bag I made the “lazy” way . I took the zippers and pockets from an old bag. These were sewn into the new linen of the new bag for its interior. The new bag is very roomy and the interior is just right and familiar. The finished size is 19″×12″×5″.

Material Notes

Leather, cotton.

I am not sure it is a good idea to put the faux leather between the shell and the lining . A better idea in my opinion would be to get a sturdy grade of interfacing and iron it to the wrong side of the leather for support. Another technique would be quilted lining. You could take filler and quilt it between two fabrics and then cut the joined fabrics into your pattern. Happy sewing!

its gorgeous, i’m dying to make a bag and i was going to take an old bag apart for the pattern and then use the lining like you did. the fabrics a lovely dog tooth check but light. its leftover from a dress. i thought i could use faux leathee in between the shell and lining? would this work? x
