Learn-to-sew Skirt

Added Jun 10, 2011

Kerrville, Texas...

My first self-drafted skirt from an African print cotton that I picked up cheaply. I liked the print… until I discovered it consisted of a series of one yard squares in a row on the fabric. I tried to cut around the print to make a pattern that would make sense for this skirt, but I don’t know that I was particularly successful.

That said, the skirt is really comfortable and the cotton is cool in the hot weather, so I’m quite happy.

Now I need to learn how to insert a zip! LOL

Material Notes

African print cotton that cost me $10 for 5 yards.

Nice skirt. Is the waist elastic? You did a great job working with this fabric, what you did looks totally intentional. Happy Sewing!!!

      Yes, it is elastic.

      Thanks, that’s very encouraging! :)
