This is a Simplicity pattern (#1755) designed by Project Runway’s Leanne Marshall. I feel in love with this pattern as soon as I saw it and new that I must make it. This design lends itself well to sewing with quilting cottons, typically a no-no, and fortunately the design is a good one for all the fun prints quilting cottons offer. I love this print because at a distance it looks like stripes, but close-up you notice that it’s actually tall trees with little red birdies perched about the branches. Also, my friend’s grandma gave me a vintage covered button kit (like seriously, the package is originally priced at like 39¢), so I centered the little birdies of the print on the buttons to use at the neck and sleeves.
Regarding my pictures, please excuse my silly hair and some of the stray threads in the close-ups I only just noticed but I’m too lazy to retake the pictures.

Super cute dress, little birds are adorable! I love Leanne, she is one of my favorite PR contestants ever. I remember how thrilled I was when she won her season, usually the one I like ends up as a runner up :(
