Burda Style For people who sew

A wabi-sabi interpretation of the 1, 2, 3 Sew Pintuck Clutch. I wanted to practice using my newest sewing machine acquirement with a simple but cute project, and this was perfect! I also got to use up some stash fabric. ;)

The original pattern calls for a magnetic closure, but I didn’t want to use one, so I ignored the part of the pattern that deals with applying the magnetic closure. Once everything else was finished, I hand-sewed on the button and the ribbon loop.

I didn’t mark or measure the pintucks, so they’re a bit wonky, but I think it makes the finished object look more organic and natural in a way that was inspired by the fabric (and which is also reflected in my choice of button).

Also, I didn’t use the same measurements for the clutch as the original pattern; I just eyeballed the fabric I had and cut a length and width I liked, sewed a number of pintucks that seemed right, and then cut the rest of the fabric pieces to match the size of the first piece.

Material Notes

The outside is an unidentified synthetic fabric (I think it’s polyester), with printed quilting cotton for lining, and a vintage button and a bit of ribbon for the closure.
