My major work project for the final year of my costume course. We had $200 NZ dollars and $80 NZD of workroom stock to make our chosen garments ( i came in under the radar at 163.30 NZD and 50 NZD). I wanted to make a mid 18th century gown and did so!

These photo’s where taken in a professional photo shoot for an award winning NZ hair artist.

You are sooo telented! I see Madame Pompadour in this picture! This is a gorgeous and faithful version of the fashion of the18th century. The bows on the mid-front bodice, the color, the neck piece, the sloped shoulder, even the make up… outstanding!!! STANDING OVATION !!!

I’ve had my machine for a year. I bought it to make duvet covers that open on 3 sides. It is brilliant and has made just over 480 duvet covers. I was the first owner.

I used a pattern from Jean Hunnisett and consulted Janet Arnold too. I was lucky enough that my tutor had already drafted the pattern and keep it so i did not have to make it up, but in both books the pattern drafting is based on grids etc so time consuming but not impossible.

For my trim I reserached portraits and museum databases on the web. If you go to my blog you can download my work journal and it has all my references on it and techniques I used so free to have a look :)
