Made using Vogue 2858, an original 1944 design. Given that this is an evening gown the sparsely finished nature of the pattern was an eye-opener! The construction techniques were also interesting, I’m assuming lapped seams were normal in 1944!
I incorporated a few modern details, namely an invisible zip. I also left off the shoulder pads; I made them and covered them but left them off the final version. Shoulder pads + Me = Too horrible for words…
I’m giving away this pattern on my blog here
(it’s OK, I have my own traced version if I want to make it up again!)
black crepe, invisible zip

Thank you Ralf! I added a zoom-in, just please ignore the weird facial expression ;)
