i was given the pattern butterick b4929 to use and i had always wanted to try my hand with pin tucking so i created this jacket for my good friend Layla. I admit the pin tucking could be better but it was difficult working with such a large piece of fabric. At least she likes the jacket
i used a thin grey wool i had been given and took the zip out of a jacket i got at a second hand store. apparently it is hard to get an open ended metal tooth zip in a 40cm length as i found out.

That jacket looks gorgeous!! I looked up the pattern and it doesn’t have any pintucks in the pattern – how did you do it?? I am only a novice but I would like to give it a go!! Thanks, coeurcouture

Thank you! for the pintucks i just made up a bit piece of the fabric with all the markings and stitched the lines.
then went laying out the pattern pieces i doubled the fabric of tucks, and tried as best i could to line up all the rows of tucking and hold them in place with pins so when the pieces are cut out they will be symmetrical and match up beautifully.
sorry this is all sounding very confusing but it is quite simple. just take your time and think about it twice before you cut anything. if you need to know more just let me know i will be happy to try and explain again. good luck
