Burda Style For people who sew
Description
I decided to try to make an infinity dress to wear to Barrister’s Ball at my law school this year. I figured, worst case scenario, I spend the money I would have spent anyway. But! It all worked out. Thankfully I discovered Fashion Fabrics Club online and I was able to score this stretch satin for less than $50 (8 yards!). So the infinity dress is essentially a full length circle skirt, a waistband, and two REALLY long straps that you can arrange in a bunch of different ways. This dress was very, very heavy, but so much fun to strut around in. I got a lot of compliments (as well as a couple comments comparing me to The Little Mermaid…take it how you will, I’ve decided it was meant as a compliment and am taking it as such lol).
Material Notes
Stretch Satin (it reminded me a lot of figure skating outfit fabrics, but it came out looking really expensive I think). It was very heavy and, as far as working with it, I was very glad to have a serger!
