I’ve constructed this top almost entirely on my serger/overlocker but you could use the appropriate stitches for jersey fabrics on the sewing machine instead. Where the instructions mention serging just to finish the edge of the fabric, substitute zigzag.
1. On the front piece, serge the areas around the joint of the two halves. This is to finish the edges of the ‘hole’ through which the collar will be threaded later.
