Self drafted pattern for these bags. The bright floral one is for myself as was made as a test of the pattern. The Navy blue floral/stripe was made on order after this sweet lady saw my purse and said she had to have one, what a compliment I think. The purse has a large outside pocket and pockets on the inside, one has a set of 3 and the other has two sets of pockets. There is a large outer pocket that is the entire width of the purse. I used magnetic snaps for the closures. The bottom is reniforced with a sturdy piece of cardboard encased in fabric. Finished size is 15 1/2″ × 13 1/2".
Cotton, Home Dec fabric, magnetic snaps, cotton batting.

Very true! Pockets are good for everything :) You inspired me to make a similar bag for my sister, since she found out that sewing is becoming one of my hobbies she is ordering a bag. I’m quite happy about it, as it will help me practice.

She will love a bag with lots of pockets! My cut size for this bag is 16 1/2 × 14 for the main and the lining, and for the large back pocket the cut size is 16 1/2 × 10. The trick to getting the back pocket in the right place is to measure up from the bottom 4" and sew it to the main piece there. That way when you box the corners the bottom of the pocket is right at the bottom of the bag. Took me some trial and error to get it right. Can’t wait to see your finished product and if you have any questions let me know. Happy Sewing!

Thank you very much. I love pockets!!! A place for everything so you aren’t fussing around looking for stuff. The person I made it for loved it and said once she takes it to church the orders should come pouring in. Sounds good to me!!!
