I decided to make a test run of the Lancey pattern before making the dress version I have in mind. I extended the length 6 inches, added slits at the side, and made ties as closures. It was a pretty quick project and now I know what I need to change for next time! As a note, I wouldn’t recommend this pattern to an inexperienced sewer. The instructions were terrible, and the pattern itself only includes the bodice pieces.
Some sort of striped poly cotton ($0.99 find at a thrift center).
