As soon as I saw this skirt, it was clear that the pattern was made right for me, no doubt (before sewing):-) I only coudn’t find the fabric that would be not very thin, well-draped, have nice colour, good for summer/ early autumn/late spring and match at least something in my wardrobe… :)
But when I started sewing some question appeared: how to put it on without a zipper; and if it stretches enough to dress without a zipper, how the top edge will look after some wearing. I read what the girls wrote here about their projects and their dilemmas were the same. Simple skirt with many questions:)
So, I put the zipper in – to have it in the right side is less evil than to have shapeless sagged and stretched top edge when wearing.
When you choose what size to make, I recommend to combine two sizes – yours for the right side and one size bigger for the draped left side( at least for the waist) because the draping gives 1.5 cm thickness for the left seam. And the first two pleats of draping are on your waist.
9 cm for the one-piece band is too much – I made 7 cm. The top edge of the skirt is processed with facing and interfacing to get some stiffness otherwise it doesn’t keep the shape and become wrinkled.
But the skirt is really nice and pretty comfortable! I love it and me in it, too:-)
The blouse isn’t new but one of my favourite – from Burda 3/2005, #105.
The top is from Diana Modern (Ukrainian edition) 5/2013, #37.
Thick viscose jersey for a skirt and thin – for the top.
The blouse made of organza.
