Description
I created this coat during Gertie’s Lady Grey Sewalong. This project ended up being my first coat and my first time matching plaids. Obviously, I knew it would be my first time sewing a winter coat. The plaid matching, however, was something I thought about later. I simply fell in love with the colors and pattern at the fabric store, had it cut, took it home and only then realized I had to match the pattern. #$%#!! Just kidding, as with many things the idea ended up being much worse than the reality. It certainly took time to match the pattern (putting me well behind the rest of the group), but I wouldn’t say it was technically very difficult.
What can I say, this project was so challenging and being able to wear the final product is such an amazing sewing-confidence builder! I still remain very impressed with the Lady Grey Pattern and Gertie’s instruction; I would highly recommend both. The introduction to tailoring was amazing, really enjoyed it!
The only adjustment I made was to lengthen the sleeves. More images can be found on my blog refurl Check it out if you’d like.

Your coat is seriously amazing! I love the choice of fabric and the colours within it. It looks great on you with those jeans too.

Thank you!
You really should try it! Definitely time consuming, but really not all that bad.

I like the Lady Grey in theory, but yours is the only finished version I actually love. That fabric is to die for!
