A simple dress based on Burda #117 6/2010. The dress is a loose fit, which makes it wonderful to wear in the hot weather we’ve been having here in Australia!
I used a lovely dusty purple homespun from Spotlight – it’s one of my favourite colours! But don’t even get me started on Spotlight only selling zippers and thread in 1 shade of purple… Anyway I used the bodice from Burda #117 6/2010 (which I lined), and simple rectangles from the remaining fabric for the skirt. I trimmed the bodice seams and waistband with cream cotton lace – it hides the mismatching purple thread quite nicely :)
Is anyone else a lazy sewer who isn’t so keen on adjusting straps to fit? I certainly am, and I often avoid this step by making shoulder ties. Best shortcut ever (although they look odd when you wear a cardigan over the top!)

I do the shoulder tie thing out of laziness too sometimes :) Pretty dress.

It’s very cute, and such a good idea to tie the straps! I hate spending time trying to make even fitting straps!

Oooh I like this very much! I’m not one to add lace to things but you have me convinced!

Thanks Jodie! I’m not a lace-y person at all either (I normally avoid the stuff because I hate looking ‘frilly’), but I’m happy with how it turned out :)
