I made this lovely dress from New Look 6146 pattern, view B, for my anniversary dinner out with my sweet & wonderful husband. I made the main dress out of a lace material that had adhered to a backing material. I have never seen this type of fabric for apparel sewing as it is more like a home decor weight material. Who knows-maybe it is home dec fabric! Oh well, it was easy, but thick, to sew and I love the result. I made the midriff and spagetti straps out of polyester satin in black for contrast and to “break up” all that lace.
It was a very nice pattern to sew. I did a muslin first to check fit which was a good idea as I did make a few minor fitting adjustments. There are a couple of hand sewing parts for the midriff lining or if you were to do more couture sewing on this dress. I love the pattern and I will definitly use it again. I think the fit is good for me and there are many design options for which one could use this dress as a base pattern.
