A-line shift dress I made 2 years ago, vaguely copied off a dress I had (no pattern used).
The name comes from a guy I passed by in my street the other day, who exclaimed “Oh Mademoiselle, on dirait la mer qui passe à côté de moi !” (“Oh Miss, it’s like the sea is passing in front of me !”). (Yes, there are some poets in my street….;)).
I first intended to make a bubble dress, but didn’t know how to do it, so I just cut the lining 5 cm shorter than the main fabric, and sewed them together. The dress ended up being very slightly puffy, but not bubbly at all.
I then had those jellyfish figures I found in a book (see last picture), that I thought i’d paint on the dress, in a blue-green shade, to make it less “plain”.
Now I changed my mind, I think it pops enough the way it is and I’d better leave it as it is. What do you think ? I think the bright color does enough for the dress… Well, that’s my BBD, Bright Blue Dress, a summer essential :)
Coton ; chiffon (lining).

Jellyfish please. A blue dress is nice, but a blue dress with jellyfish is special.
