I love this dress, especially with the crinoline underneath. I made Butterick 5748, which is a reproduction 1960 pattern. It’s a circle skirt usually cut on the crosswise grain, but because of the directional fabric I had to cut it in 4 pieces rather than 2 and on grain. I shortened the skirt a little and was able to get it out of 3.5 yards rather than 4. I spent a loooong time matching up the design of the fabric in the front, and it’s not perfect, but I’m pretty pleased. (last pic- the seam is at the shoulder of the female figure) I also added side-seam pockets and lowered the neckline a bit (as always).
