Burda Style For people who sew
Description
Never a fan of high necklines, as they make my boobs appear to start under my chin, this minor variation on Kristen looks fabulous on us curvier ladies.
Only one front ruffle because I’m lazy. Skirt front and back pieces reversed; this was accidental on the muslin, but I liked the fit so much I retained it in the finished piece.

Tragedy has befallen this dress; on first washing, the purple has run and dyed the white background of the dots. Salvage attempt will be made, but I just don’t think it’ll be wearable again. Boo hoo!

Oh no! Sorry for that girl! I also never wash my fabrics before sewing them together although everybody says, but I´m too lazy… But maybe I should try to change myself…

I think the pattern is designed so there are two slim darts on the back and one larger one on the front. I could be wrong.
Anyway. I’ve got a fairly scooped back with a sticky-out bottom, and the one dart bit seemed to fit my shape well at the back, so I left it that way around.

The pattern is from this website (Burda’s Kristen Plus; there’s a link to it up on the right of the page there). Thoroughly recommended, even if you do need to print it out at home.
Instead of the front being a high neck with a collar, I cut a scoop from the mark on the pattern for their neck opening up towards the shoulder. I’d recommend making your muslin with a high neck, then drawing your desired scoop on it before using those pieces for your pattern :)
Lining pieces were cut from the same pattern and stitched right-side to right-side along the neckline before turning and top-stitching. Sleeves and lining were turned under and basted, then top-stitched.
