This is my second dress attempt, ever. Thank goodness I had my mom helping me out, because I found the pattern quite challenging. I found the instructions a bit confusing. Some of the pattern pieces are marked with different terminology than is used in the instructions (i.e. “band” vs. “placket”), and terms like “neaten the seam” are used instead of… well, I never did figure out what that meant.
I am pleased with the outcome, though. I like the way the dress fits, for one, and for another, I think I learned some valuable sewing lessons. Like, my serger is not really a go-to machine for dressmaking. And, polyester is the devil.
This is made from some very sheer, very difficult to work with polyester. My roommate asked me to make one for her - I think I will insist she pick out some cotton or a cotton blend.

Your dress is super cute and you are right, it’s not the easiest of dresses. It’s quite a fiddly pattern, I started one (for a friend) ages ago, but have gotten quite over the whole baby-hemming of wee wisps of sheer fabric, my old machine just chews it up like nothing else. Hmmm, your dress has inspired me to make my final assault on the dress.

oh i really like the colour combination. you did a really good job if this is your second dress.
i also feel the same about the instructions. eventually you just learn to sew just by looking at the pictures…
keep up the good work!
