Dress knitted recently from a pattern in Good Housekeeping New Complete Book of Needlecraft, published in 1971.
I modified the skirt to be mostly stockinette stitch instead of ribbing, so I could knit that portion on my Ultimate Sweater Machine. I did this mainly because I’m impatient, but in total it still took about 4 months to knit. The machine portion took 2 days, though. :)

Wow! That is gorgeous. I love the colour too. I wish I could find a fabulous vintage pattern like that. I usually make up patterns when knitting for my daughter but am nowhere near proficient enough to make up a pattern for myself! Great job!

Really Sassy! Very smart how you integrated the two-top and bottom by changing from the rib. Your finished dress is so clean and perfect! Beautiful. Love the belt also!

I love it! Was a good idea to machine knit the skirt part: that is the only thing that disuades me from ever knitting a dress….
