i have been oogling knit blazers lately so i made up butterick 4610 using a double knit fabric. i love this jacket, it’s perfect for me to throw on when i need/want to look presentable shuttling kids to various activities or running errands. plus it’s knit so it’s super comfortable!
i decided to use the fusible tailoring method to keep it looking nice and crisp. i applied knit fusible to the entire front, the facing, the collar and at the jacket and sleeve hems (the pattern called for much less fusing). i toped it off with some ribbon trim and sparkly buttons.
this butterick pattern is a nice starting point, though a bit boxy right out of the envelope. to fix this, i narrowed the shoulders a touch and raised the armscythe by 3/4" and narrowed the sleeves. i graded from an 8 up top to a 10 at the waist and used the size 6 sleeve.
many more details and pics over on the blog! notes from a mad housewife
