Yes, I know…BUT it is exactly the pink and grey of a grey kitten’s ear!. This easy-peasy dress is made from soft and downy stretchy material. The bodice is finely ribbed and the skirt is just like ballerina’s tights! I made the bodice by drawing around a close fitting T-shirt and the skirt is a double layer dirndl which is gathered to bursting point and then, if that weren’t enough, elasticated too! I zigzagged around the hemlines with embroidery thread to create a decorative (if I do say so myself!) rolled hem. I fixed a really long sash at the side seams which wraps around twice and, hopefully, creates a soft draped waistband….necessary to hide the mistakes I made by not being practiced enough with an over-locker!!

No pattern! I took my daughter’s T-shirt and folded it in half (lengthways!) and put it on the fold of fabric and cut around it adding a bit for seams, I did this again for the back of the bodice but made a lesser scoop for the neckline. The skirt was just a double rectangle gathered and then elasticated and joined to the bodice (very badly!) with an over-locker…Voila! =D

Wow, I love this! I’m obsessed with soft, romantic stuff like this, and that color combo is gorgeous. Looks great :)
