Description

Made this from Burda Style’s Hooded Sport Jacket 12/2012 #139 pattern using African kitenge fabric. Also added an inner lining of a contrasting solid color. I have freakishly long arms so I’m lovin the extra large folded cuffs that allow you to easily let out the sleeve as much as you want!

It’s good to see that the pattern turns out very well also for other kind of fabric as it was in the Burdastyle version. I also have wondered about this pattern. Your result is great and inspiring!

Thanks again! Yeah the original instructions have you press out the seam allowances on the right side of the fabric but I just reversed it as I would with most other projects. It seemed to work just as well!

Original choice of fabric for sport clothes, I like it a lot. Fabric is very beautiful and blue details make the hoodie special. it suits you very well.

Thanks so much for the kind words! I forgot to bring the kitenge fabric with me when I picked out the blue so I was worried that it would clash. While it’s not a perfect match, it seems to work!

Love your hoodie, the fabric is great. Classy take on the comfy cover up.

Thanks for the compliment! I loved the fabric the second I saw it and have been saving it for just the right project. Glad you liked it too!

Thanks so much! It means all the more coming from a fellow African resident. (I think it says I’m based in Chicago on my profile but I’ve actually been living in Nairobi for the past year!)
