I love these pants. I so wanted wide legged trousers but being only 5’3" they always looked huge. The pattern ended up being to long in the waist and too long in the length but I kind of guessed it would be. For the next pair I make, I have cut the length in both places.
Sorry for the bad pictures…

I think these pants look terrific on you in that first photo (with the stunning burnt orange top).
To drop the waistline, my suggestion would be to measure the new “waistband” on your body and compare to the measurements of the current waistband. Remember to adjust each piece by 1/4 total difference i.e. if you need to add 1", add 1/4" to each piece. A more accurate way of doing it though, would be to mark each “side” measurement of your body, then measure the front half of your body, then the back half. Adjusting the waistband front and back according to these measurements would help it to sit better and reduce gape. (IMHO, of course. :) )
Looking forward to seeing your new adjusted pair.

Well they hit me at the belly button and I would prefer they hit me below it. I guess I should have said they were too long in the rise. Sorry for the confusion. I’m short waisted too though. When you print it out there are two lines on the patterns for lengthening or shortening. It even says “lengthen or shorten here.” One is at the legs and the other is between the waistband and crotch.
I’ve already cut the pattern shorter by an inch for both of them and will try the next pair like that. I’m thinking I may need to make the waist a bit wider though by doing that…not sure though. I’m a real novice so take what I say with that in mind.
They really are great pants and not too hard to make at all. Good luck and post up the pictures when you get them done.

Hey, I’m 5’3" too… and I’m planning to make this pattern. I wondering what you meant when you said that it was too long in the waist… do you mean that it was too wide? or too high up on the stomach? I figured the legs would be too long, but waist??? Confused. Help?
