I saw a super cute jacket with a generous knit collar at a store recently and thought, hey, I can make something like that! So I started with BurdaStyle’s March 2012 pattern (#116) and made a few modifications (replaced the sleeve vents with zippers and added a hand-knit collar). The collar is made from two strands of alpaca wool knit together with size 15 needles in a 2×2 rib pattern. Also, I didn’t line it because I used a boiled wool fabric that is on the thick side. While it isn’t a traditional moto jacket, I think it still retains a bit of that edgy look with the offset zipper and sleeve zippers.
100 percent boiled wool (body)
Fusible interfacing
Alpaca yarn (Misty Alpaca; hand-knit collar)

Beautiful coat! It reminds me that I really must make this at some point, especially as I have all the pieces cut out…!

Definitely need to make it. The pattern is well drafted so it came together pretty easily. Can’t wait to see your version!
