My daughter kelsey turned 21 on feb the 5th and she asked me to make her a dress as her present. I was thrilled as making something for someone you love is a wonderful feeling. Kelsey sent me a photo of a dress she liked and asked me if i could make something similiar? Kelsey and her friends are having a ‘murder mystery’ night to.night so she wanted something sultry and va va voom. I bought 2 metres of a gorgeous ponte roma and then i started to look at dress patterns to see if i could use one as a base. I settled on burda sheath dress (vintage) 05/2013#134. The darts and seams on this dress are fabulous and gave the dress a brillant shape. I cut one bodice section into a point but we settled on a more round shape in the end. This was my first time using plastic boning and i think it turned out fime. I just made 5 fabric strips and attached them to the lining slid the boning in snipped them and stitched the opening. I was worried about the piece staying up and it worked a treat. We also decided to omit the slit so its more slinky . I think kelsey looks so beautiful in her dress. Kelsey is thrilled with her dress and that makes me so happy x
