so i downloaded the free pattern and just used the pattern pieces to place together the dress. i realised that i didnt order enough fabric to fold the skirt piece twice so what i did is not gather the skirt and also have it higher up on the waist.
I also dont like having elastic backs so i decided to just add a zip instead at the side of the dress and cut the excess off, doing this meant that i didnt need to put the darts in on the front side pieces as the bodice fitted me ok to begin with. Lastly i added the straps and some ribbon around the waist. :)
