Description

I have to say, without a lie, this is my favourite skirt ever! It matches with everything and is so flattering. I have made it twice now. The instructions are very straight forward. I even made self-covered buttons and they finish it off perfectly. Thanks burdastyle!

Material Notes

Lightweight stretch denim

This looks great. I think the key is using the same color for the side patches. As much as it is tempting to use a different color, for me… because I have “womanly hips”, drawing attention to them isn’t what I want to do. I was thinking this skirt wouldn’t work for me until I saw this and realized, “duh, I don’t have to use contrasting fabric for the hips/pockets.” Nice use of restraint in your fabric choices. I wish I could always employ that virtue.

I love this and would love you to post a photo of the other version you made. I really like seeing your work because I’m an at-home Mum to 2 kids as well and wear lots of casual clothes. Its really hard to stay sylish and not look ‘Mumsy’! Your clothes are styley and practical and I have to admit to buying Simplicity 4589 after seeing all the variations you made. I’m tempted to make this skirt as well – without being to much of a copycat!

I was wondering how it would look in a solid colour. It works very well. Stretch denim looks very comfortable.

I want to make this skirt with a plain colored fabric. I had some doubt but your dress convince me! It’s just great! Congrats!
