This is a ‘trade’ project I did for my hair stylist. I designed and sewed it for her and in turn had my hair done X 4. The coat is fully lined with welt pockets and a removable hood and removable asymmetrical flounce. I wish I had better photos of it because these don’t show all of the detail. There are some really cute ruffles on the sleeve plackets.
Brown/Cream houndstooth wool. Teal Silk. Polka dot bamberg rayon lining.

oh.. my… god… A-mazing! She is a very very lucking hairdresser! I’ve never seen anything like it, so original and gorgeous! I love the pockets (I have no idea how to do those). I always get a bit worried making things for other people that they won’t like it and it will be a very awkward and unpleasant experience…. do you ever feel that way?

I have used many methods to create welt pockets and this is by FAR the best method, the EASIEST and look like a professional made them.

As far as making clothes for others, I really only sew for those that I know well, so I know what their aesthetic is. If I don’t know them well I charge, do fittings and make them think that they picked the fabric. You know your friends well enough to know if they want vintage charm, a well placed bow and your spark! I bet they ask you anyhow!
