This is a dress I made with Colette’s sewing pattern Peony. It was a very easy dress to put together, and the result is very satisfying to me. I also really love the boat neck.

I used a 100% wool poplin, which has some stiffness to it, and kind of a shine. It is very warm as well.

Thanks, Victoria! I also thing that the details make the difference (clothewise, and generally speaking!)

Thanks, but it’s just another little black dress, at the end of the day!

That’s interesting, MP. I’m still fairly new to sewing, so if I’m making anything but a skirt, I still have to make a muslin. I had to adjust the bodice of my taffy dress quite a bit!

This is so cute, I’m going to tackle it this weekend. How did you find the fit? Did you make a muslin?

Hi, Lara. Although I know I should be doing a muslin every time I make a dress, I almost every time get bored to do that, and I take the chance. It is important, though, to know that Colette’s patterns’ No 10 fits me OK, so it’s a small risk to take.
