This is my first waist cincher. It is made using the Laughing Moon Underbust Corsets pattern. I hope to get my skills up to scratch so I can eventually draft my own patterns.
It is a single layer cincher made in coutil brocade. Boning channels have been made using boning tape following the seams on the inside and additional channels have been made on the outside using satin-backed faux fur ribbon. The waist stay is cotton twill tape and it is finished with black satin bias binding.
I have used a tropical bird cotton print (I am pretty sure it’s an Alexander Henry design) to add a decorative finish to the facings. This has been backed with coutil to ensure there is enough strength to hold the busk and eyelets.
Coutil, spiral steel and flat steel stays.
