This is the first bikini I made. It was a practice one just to see how it goes. I think I made three tops! Really had to experiment to get the size and shape how I wanted. It’s a drawstring bandeau top and I wanted the same kind of drawstring thing for the sides of the bottoms. I used the great website Pattern School a lot. I cut the top tie thingy after the pic was taken so it’s not as long now. It can be tied in a few different ways. I had to struggle a bit with the elastic but I got it to sit nicely in the end. I don’t have an overlocker so I just zigzagged it on. I’m really quite proud of myself :) I learnt a lot making this.

Your bikini looks flawless! I don’t know how you managed
to sew that material so perfectly! The shape is really tailored
to your figure, very beautiful!

This is gorgeous…very well done….You would probably love an overlock machine if you work with stretch fabrics. I just bought mine a few months ago, and i’ve already learned alot.

wow it looks so nice, and the fitting is wonderful! I tried making one my self this summer but it feels a little loose… what’s your secret?

Thanks! Well my first top was too small, the second too big, the third was just right! Like Goldilocks… I think just play around with sizes. And stretch the elastic a little when you sew it on.
