I got a comission to make two costumes for the photoshoot for a theatre production of “Pope Joan” – you might know the novel or the movie from 2009.
Imdb summarizes the plot thus: “A 9th century woman of English extraction born in the German city of Ingelheim disguises herself as a man and rises through the Vatican ranks.”
This is the dress for Joan for before she starts disguising herself as a monk. We chose a very simple dress in medieval style with front lacing (to make it look a little bit more interesting in the pictures).
