I started out with a very definite Joan Hathaway number in mind; after all, Joan is magnificent and I had ideas of gliding through the office! So I used New Look 6968 with that iconic bias collar and decided on some Ponte Roma jersey.
Now I’m very long in the body, so I measured and lengthened the bodice to fit. But, ladies, who would have guessed that the weight of the dress would cause the jersey to give a little, taking the waistline below my waist?! Well some of you might.
Not a problem! The dropped waist looks cute once the skirt is shortened, so now it’s less boo-boop-be-doo and a lot more Megan Draper. But I like it :)
My only comment re this pattern would be to beware what fabric you use – at one point on this collear you end up with 8 – yes EIGHT! layers of fabric in one seam – so the thinner, the better. Surely New Look could come up with a better design? I’m going to experiment to get the same collar with much less bulk!
