If anybody caught Jessica Alba on the Red Carpet in 2013, you would have seen the gorgeous coral gown by Oscar de la Renta she was fashioning. The moment I saw this dress I knew I had to make one just like it for my Junior Prom! Aside from a little pattern help from Ralph Pink patterns, this gown was all hand drafted (and pretty much improvised) the week of prom. The fabric I picked up on sale at Joann’s and is a two-way stretch taffeta by David Tutera in the color “Papaya”. The bodice is self-lined and bustier/sweetheart neckline type of style with some tough interfacing to hold up a long night of dancing! The bottom is just a good ole circle skirt, back closure with a sleek invisible zipper.
Flirty dresses, a cropped cami, and glam trousers for modern flappers.
