I made this dress out of the cutest and coolest jersey material (made from rayon) with border print and I love it. It is also quite see through, so I attached a shell layer with some remnant jersey material I had. I used the bodice pattern from burda 3/2009 dress 102 , but ditched the skirt and the sleeves, waistband, zipper, and back seam… It actually looks like the recent burda 02/2011 101 pattern a lot.
Its very comfortable and I am glad to have it in my wardrobe! my blog entry for this is here.

hey I forgot to ask before, how did you end up sewing the elastic waistband? did you use a elastic strip?

yes i did! i kind of stretched out a loop of elastic band and sewed it directly onto the seam allowance. a short cut but since its lined, no one will see :)

I adore this too. Border prints are hard to find in jerseys…although border prints are all over RTW. There’s a gorgeous Anthropologie maxi dress that I want to recreate. The great thing about border prints? There’s almost no wrong way to position the border. I plan on finding me some rare border print in a stretch jersey very soon for my own creativity!
