This is my first skirt I’ve ever made! I decided to go ahead and try it without a pattern. It turned out that the two pieces I’d originally made were very tight around the hips, so I decided to go a different route than I’d intended (elegant) and go for a more deconstructed look while solving the too tight problem. I added a few triangles of fabric here and there and left the hem unfinished and uneven. For the waistband I simply fold over the top to make the skirt the length I’d like. This shows the inner seam allowances, or “ruffles” as I like to think of them. All in all, more of an experiment than anything else but definitely one of my favorite pieces of clothing in my wardrobe. (The first photo is my skirt in action!)

I have a skirt that looks a lot like this one that I bought 5 years ago from Target. It is so comfy that I sometimes refer to it as my spring/summer sweat pants :D This inspires me to give a try at replicating it if I could ever find a good place to get jersey…

I like the “showing seam allowances” on the waist band that actually looks like ruffles. Very special!

Wow, I absolutely want one. This skirt looks amazing. You could wear it so many ways. I was going to ask if you’d used a pattern, but then read your description.

Sorry for the lack of detail in the photographs…I’m having trouble uploading the more detailed photos and I didn’t realize how much dust was on the mirror! I’ll post better ones soon…
