Description

Hi!! I fell in love with this knot front dress pattern as soon as I saw it in the burda issue. Too bad for me that it was a tall women pattern:((( That was a huuuuuuge problem for me because I am petite and I ‘m also too lazy to adjust the pattern, make muslins to try the fit etc…so the dress had remained in my wish list for several months. Some days ago I finally decided to make it! I used a black jersey lycra a little heavy and drapey. I didn’t alter the length of the bodice pattern though: 1) because of laziness and 2) because I wanted a lower waistline. So I decided to risk it, I had nothing to loose except 2 meters of fabric;) The result is nice in my opinion. The dress is not exactly empire and this is not a problem, I like it with the lower waistline. But there is problem with the heavy fabric at the front which pulls even more downwards the waist seam. I have thought of adding some strap at the inside to secure the front at the bra (something like the bra strap holders, but positioned at the front waist). Except of this little problem the dress was very easy to make, a very quick and rewarding project:)

It is lovely, I like the lowered waistline. i did not notice the pulling at the front. Sometimes it is not possible to foresee these issues, is it? But that is also the fun in sewing (making anything yourself really): the unexpected problems and finding solutions for them…. Anyway, the dress looks beautiful and you look beautiful in it.

Thank you so much frederi! Someone could have guessed this problem. I personally didn’t thought it but sure I will be able to foresee it the next time: this is the value of the experience!:)))

Beautiful dress. I’m the same way, lazy to adjust the pattern for my petite size.

Oh, thank you very much rita! It is really nice to have time to sew, now I have plenty because I am a teacher and the school is closed:) But I still remember some of the past years when I didn’ t have time at all! I tried to make in my day even 20 minutes of sewing time.

I enjoy very much your summer sewing appetite! Tall sizes on burda issues are the patterns I don’t even dream, but with your success I may do from now on! I love that knot and the appropriate sexy elegance style it gives on you <=> you give on it! You can may add some clear elastic on the V (without stretching it) to make "stick"on your skin and not move. ;)

Thanks al ot for your kind comments! This pafrticular pattern isn’t fitted so the different height doesn’t show except at waistlint. But even for more fitted garments I don’t think that it would be difficult to adjust the pattern pieces to a small height, I think that this will be my next project:) Maybe yours as well!!

First of all…… You have posted so many great projects, several of which would have been my personal pick to be featured in some way …. I honestly don’t know what the criteria is for being featured ….nevertheless you are very talented and your passion for sewing shows in everything project….

As for this dress… It is simply elegant..with that necklace and your hair put up you would be the belle of “any” ball in this creation!:)

I am very happy that my pashion for sewing and fashion is visible to you! I think that this passion is what we all have in common here! I think it’s very good that the pattern is for tall women and you were lazy:) The pattern must be happy with it. In your interpretation the dress is much better and deserves attention, maybe I even would try it, too, but only in your way: I didn’t like it in the magazine. And the choice of fabric is absolutely nice although dark ones are not too good for draping – you managed to show the beauty of the twist. By the way, I agree with misumihaela as for featured patterns, I expected to see your orange dress, too, but you just have to know that we chose it ( let’s say we have own rating:)) no doubt:)

I’m very very glad that you liked it!! And I’m also very glad that you liked the orange dress, your kind words mean a lot to me and they are enough…I don’t need further recognition;) P.s. How did you manage to change your nickname? I thought that it was not possible!

In you account there’s an option – personal account info and then there’s an option – use my real name, I just ticked it. It always seems to be strange to be contacted by nick.
Actually I hoped to change the number of the projects they show in brackets on my page so clicked whatever:) To change the number I couldn’t but now I see my name when are welcome:)

This is beautiful! I’m like you where I’m petite and so these tall burda patterns make me hesitate sometimes. You did a wonderful job.

Thank you! I hesitate because I haven’t adjusted any tall pattern yet and I don’t feel confident about the result.

You look fabulous in this dress and look ready for a gala ball!!! I really like how it has turned out for you and I am sure jersey knit fabric is the perfect choice for this pattern. I made one in linen and it gapes in the front even though the fit is perfect for me. I simply wear a singlet top or tee shirt underneath and I am happy with that. I do intend to make this again but I am going to use jersey knit.

Thank you very much dear for your kind comments! I had seen your version a long time ago and I liked it very very much, very elegant! I did a second research at the finished dresses the previous days, I saw again your dress, as well as some other pretty dresses, and decided to make mine in linen or taffeta! These fabrics give much more volume and shape at the front knot which I think is very cute! That’s why burda recommends them;) But the previous days I was bored and wanted to try the pattern immediately. I didn’t find anything suitable in my stash except some jerseys. Knit is also a good choice for this pattern but the front knot becomes a little flat. Anyway in the future I will shorten the pattern and make it in a stiffer fabric.
Burda gapping necklines are always a problem! My dress doesn’t gap because of the fabric weight but it opens because the waist is low, I don’t know how I’ll fix it!
