Description

My jersey addiction goes on, I cannot stop!

I liked this dress in the burda magazin and also here in the forum there were some nice projects.

I made it of a quite light rayon jersey and for this reason I had to double the back skirt,
otherwise it would be too sheer.
I think for the same reason of the jersey beeing too light, the 2 pleats in front were flagging unflattering so I sewed them a few cm in the side seam.
But I´m still not totally happy with them, because I have to arrange them all the time.

I suppose for this dress some more stable jersey is needed.

I´ve also seen in the pictures that the back waist sits too low, maybe because of the weight of the double skirt???

One thing is sure: for this dress you really need high heels, otherwise it makes you rather wide…

Anyway, I like it and I want to try it in combination with other colours too :-)

I love the color! I have a heavy very dark green wool jersey that I have been wanting to use for this dress for a while. Would you recommend removing the folds on the skirt all together, and just replacing the bottom half for a plain pencil type skirt? I would love to know your opinion.

thank you :-) well, I wouldn´t remove the pleats, because they make the dress more special. At the end I decided to sew the pleats on my dress, I still don´t have a picture of it but I´ll make one. Now I´m very happy with it, because it is still special but nothing flutters when I walk. Maybe with a heavy jersey this wouldn´t be necessary… and anyway you can make it first with pleats and if you don´t like it, you can remove them later, but give it a try :-) looking forward to see your version :-)

I have also used light jersey, but it’s a jersey blend so it’s not so soft, but I haven’t been wearing the dress yet, so we’ll see :) You look wonderful in your dress!

This is lovely on you cris, i love the blue shade as its so pretty. I made this and what i did with the excess fabric on the oragami front folds was to trim them. I found there was to much fabric around my middle once i did my folds so out came my scissors and i whacked the excess of. I don’t need any extra padding lol. Yours looks so lovely cris and i just love them shoes x

Thank you Mary! Yes, these pleats are a little bit strange, I’ve been thinking about sewing them by hand along the pleat, but I’m not very sure if this is good idea. But where is your dress, I didn’t find it in your studio?

Hi cris, its the red/ green one. Its the same dress but the version i used had the leather sleeves. You know how burda will do the same dress with just a slight variation like a different fabric. It is excatly the same x

Oh, now I discovered it! It’s a great dress! Does it have a pleat in front or have you cut it completely?

Morning cris, yes it does have the pleats.i called it origami as thats what it felt like. I did the folds stitched then i cut away the excess on the inside and pressed the seams. You can’t really see because of the fabric print but it worked a treat and gave a nice flat seamed finish. It worked great for me and when i get round to making a solid colour like yours i will do the same again. I could’nt make sence of the instructions, sometimes it’s the way they are worded and sometimes it’s me lol. I put the front section on my table and worked out what Worked by folding and pinning !! Leaving the front with the excess fold fabric would’ve meant me adjusting it all the time like you mentioned and that would annoy the life out of me on a night out lol x
