Description

I have used this pattern at least 5 times and I love the fit of these jeans! Unfortunately this time my denim did not have enough stretch and the jeans look better on my mannequin than they do on me! I meticulously sewed these and even added a panel in the front to slim the tummy. Alas! All is not lost though because I am offering a “Build Your Own Jeans” class at my sewing cafe and these are on display. A lesson learned and one I will surely pass on to my students.

Denim, thread, zipper

Thanks for the compliments guys! Bright-ideas this is the Jalie jeans pattern # 2908. Thanks Joost52. For the back pockets I traced a quilt template and sewed over it with a triple straight stitch. Magdamagdda you should really try making jeans, not difficult at all and I really like the Jalie pattern. Just make sure your fabric has enough stretch! Mitmit I think the fabric should have at least 3-7% lycra. I was doubtful that my fabric would stretch enough but I wanted to get started with what I had. I have another pair that I made posted here, the “Sew What” jeans ad they fit perfectly!

Love your jeans!! I made a pair of Jalies too, but couldn’t even get in them (!!!) My fabric didn’t have enough stretch and I must have read the pattern wrong. Gonna try making another pair, but I’m gonna meassure all pattern-pieces first! Don’t think this pattern was ever made to fit hour-glass-shaped girls! :-(

I love the bar tacks (is that how you call them) and all the other little details that make them so ‘real’. Also very fancy topstitching on the back pockets :)
