Supplies:
– 1 pair of old, slightly baggy, drop-waist jeans
– 3/4 ” (2 cm) elastic, one piece measuring the circumference of your waist; and two pieces measuring the circumference of your leg 4″ (10 cm) above your knee.
STEP 1 Cut the waistband off the jeans leaving the zipper intact. You can leave the edges raw or finish them depending on the look you are going for.
STEP 2 Sew elastic around the waist. Sew on both sides of elastic. Make sure to stretch the elastic as you are sewing to make the waist gather just a bit.
STEP 3 Cut off pant legs to desired length (2″ (5 cm) above knee). Finish hem.
STEP 4 Make a casing for the elastic by turning up hem 1″ (2.5 cm). Leave a small hole so you can insert the elastic.
STEP 5 Insert elastic with a safety pin. Push safety pin through casing. Once elastic is through, sew up the tiny hole.
