Burda Style For people who sew
Description
My sister’s favourite movie is Jaws, and for Halloween this year we decided to attempt to re-create the girl (Chrissie) being eaten by the shark at the beginning of the film. I sculpted the main body of the shark out of a foam mattress and attached that to the lining of the dress (princess seamed basic dress with boning in seams). I covered everything with quilting batting to smooth it out, and finished with a random stretchy jersey fabric we found in the bargain section. The eyeballs are sculpey with nailpolish to make them shiny, and the teeth are cardboard stuck in with toothpicks. It is the toughest costume I’ve made to date, and took a long time to put together, but it was worth it!! And bonus: it’s super comfortable (like wearing pillows…). Duh duh duh duh duh duh DUH DUH DUHIUDHDUDHDHDUDH…..

broadcloth (lining), jersey (outer fabric), polyester batting, mattress foam, satin ribbon (inside mouth), boning, sculpey clay, cardboard, toothpicks, Jaws movies 1-4.
