I made 3 men’s fringed convertible scarves this Christmas for my brother and cousins, using Weekend Designer’s excellent “how-to”:

Instead of fusing the short ends closed, I went ahead and sewed them – they still looked nice. I also added a personalized label, which I designed on my computer (thanks Nikkishell for the idea!) and printed out on Colorfast Sew-In Inkjet Fabric Sheets.
