I wanted a jacket that looked scholarly or equestrian. This blazer is Simplicity 5935. I altered the pattern and took out the shoulder pads, the cuffs, and the fake-pockets (I hate those!). I think there are some mistakes in the pattern. I had to take in the sleeves two inches and I still have plenty of room to wear a sweater underneath. That said, it’s fully lined and I love the pleat in the back. I was planning on the elbow patches from the beginning. I basically made the jacket just because I wanted patches!
I used a stretch brushed velvet, but it could be done using almost anything.
Take off with pleats, cut-outs, insets, and futuristic prints.
