Love this – why are you changing the top? From what I can see it looks great. Great style and my favourite colours – looking to do something like this for myself too.

Thank you :) I have a couple of reasons for remaking the top. The bra base originally used is inappropriate. It’s soft and not sufficient coverage. The velvet used for the vest is faded and crushed from sweaty use. And my final reason is that I want the top to share more design elements with the belt. I still have the pattern I drafted for the vest and may choose to build a new one, possibly from stretch velvet.

Thanks for the explanation, nothing’s ever simple! I have been looking about for inspiration and your style here reminded me of these: http://velvetpeacockdesigns.com/costume_gypsy.html
There’s a lot of crushed velvet on the site, and I like the idea of the Turkish vests – as they seem to give more coverage and support.

oh, wow…was looking for ideas for an outfit of my own, this is stunning, must have taken you a while, but it is beautiful. I love the original sin/eve appeal, heh. Very nice :-)

The photo is so beautiful and the costume looks great, but I do wish there were some pictures of details…

Thanks! I’ve added two more photos that should show the details a little more clearly :) Still can’t see every little bit but you can definitely get a clearer idea of what was done. I’m actually in the process of rebuilding the top to this piece so it will look quite a bit different when I’m done.
