Burda Style For people who sew
Description
Dress with an interesting cut from Burda Style Magazine. The fabric is an amazing wool challis in ivory and I entirely lined the dress for comfort. Since the fabric is wool, I also added 3/4 sleeves so that I would wear the dress in winter. Adding sleeves was NOT a walk in the park given the neckline of the dress. I think I did a reasonable job of it. I also modified the skirt pattern so that it would fall just below the knee.

Lovely job! I agree with your shortening of the skirt, I had thought it was too long. The dress looks great with sleeves too, I think it was worth the hassle! Well done.

I fell in love with the fabric (a remnant as well). I have about 80cm by 150cm left so I’ll try to do a skirt with it as well. Would love to coordinate a jacket but I don’t think I’ve got enough fabric.

It’s looks lovely, it would be great to see it on you! I have a dress just like that with the ultra wide boat neck and set in long sleeves. It’s a pain to set the sleeves, but it sure makes for a great neckline! This looks like a winter wedding dress to me ;-).
