Description

Dress with an interesting cut from Burda Style Magazine. The fabric is an amazing wool challis in ivory and I entirely lined the dress for comfort. Since the fabric is wool, I also added 3/4 sleeves so that I would wear the dress in winter. Adding sleeves was NOT a walk in the park given the neckline of the dress. I think I did a reasonable job of it. I also modified the skirt pattern so that it would fall just below the knee.

Material Notes

Ivory wool challis, ivory invisible zipper, ivory antistatic synthetic lining

The sleeves make it! Like seeing the dress on; gave me a better perspective of how it falls. LOVE IT! I want one!

Thank you! I am happy you like the sleeves, I fiddled with them so much to make them look good.

Lovely job! I agree with your shortening of the skirt, I had thought it was too long. The dress looks great with sleeves too, I think it was worth the hassle! Well done.

Thanks a lot for your comment :)
I fell in love with the fabric (a remnant as well). I have about 80cm by 150cm left so I’ll try to do a skirt with it as well. Would love to coordinate a jacket but I don’t think I’ve got enough fabric.

It’s looks lovely, it would be great to see it on you! I have a dress just like that with the ultra wide boat neck and set in long sleeves. It’s a pain to set the sleeves, but it sure makes for a great neckline! This looks like a winter wedding dress to me ;-).

Oh wow, thanks blushing. I will try and post pics on me, but I didn’t have a photographer handy when I finished it.

Hello Corduroycoat, I have just posted a picture wearing it. I hope you can see the details of the dress better.
