This is the dress I am most proud of so far. It’s made of a lace remnant (synthetic unfortunately) and ivory satin as an underlay. I really looked for inspiration everywhere (see last picture) and in the end, I have used a popular Burda Magazine pattern, but modified it quite a lot:
1. I changed the neckline to a much higher one but I only cut the underlay above the bust and have used French seams at the shoulders so it would be barely visible
2. I changed the skirt which was gathered to an A-line skirt with pleats.
3. I have added a little keyhole with a pearl button at the back
4. I have bias-lined by hand the neckline, the keyhole and the armholes
I am so glad I did it, I was a bit scared but sewing lace is not as hard as I thought. Hope you like it!
synthetic lace, synthetic or blend sateen, invisible zipper, pear button, piece of ribbon as loop

Thanks! I am pretty busy at the moment, but I’ll try to make one in the future. Mostly, I underlined the lace almost everywhere and changed the neckline a bit, as well as the skirt (it was actually very easy, two 3cm pleats on each side, one of which corresponding to the dart in the bodice and a slightly A-line for the rest).

This is really beautiful! I love the keyhole and bias tape, and the pleated skirt is a great variation!

Thanks. I wanted something which did not look wedding-y or curtain-y :) I’m happy you like it.
