This dress was a part of a contest with Burdastyle and Westminster. I got to pick a Burdastyle magazine pattern and a style of Liberty Art Fabric to make a garment. I chose the Shift Dress from 5/2010 #140 Burdastyle pattern and the Meadow Pattern in Gold for my fabric. I didn’t end up having lots of time to make this, so I stuck with the original pattern shape. I did however, have to cut it down to the smallest size listed and then add baby seam allowances, as I didn’t really look at the sizing before I picked it! Needless to say, it took two mock-ups and still some final fittings to fit well!
I fully lined the dress with a beautiful golden yellow fabric and put in an exposed metal zipper all the way down the back. Overall, I was very pleased with the color and feel of the cotton fabric, it will make a lovely dress to wear on the sunny Seattle days!
