I wore this on my movie date to see Sherlock Holmes.
Which was awesome in case you were wondering.
I think It’s Elementary is also fitting, as I look a little like a school girl in this ;o)
I planned to put the zip at the side, where any mistakes would be less noticeable. I ended up omitting it entirely, since this denim has some stretch. It takes a little maneuvering to get into but it’s not too bad. I stitched my pleats down about 1.5 inches. I think it looks a little more streamlined that way.
I also managed to forget that little middle band in my haste to see if my darts lined up on both pieces. I think I like it better this way, though.
My bust darts could use some work, but with the right (padded ;D) bra, it might be alright.

i agree with a previous comment….i had totally written off Danielle thinking it was frumpy but, now having seen your version….i’ll be making one! I love the neat tailored “school” look.
Thankyou!!

This is great! I thought the Danielle had too much of a baby-doll look and I wasn’t interested in it but your version is fabulously cool, with a preppy Oxford feel and it made me see the dress in a whole new light!

Thanks!! I am really proud of the finishing of this dress, though, I would do those darts over if I could.

I was finding the bust darts difficult too, when I made my Danielle. But I will definitely try your version without the middle band. I think that is cute, although the band makes the dress more fitted and probably more streamlined. Mine is out of linen and I would never be able to get into it without the zip though! I guess I made mine quite small too.
