This is my birthday treat!! The pattern was bought 1 year ago (again for my birthday) and this year for my birthday I splashed out and finally bought the fabric. The Simplicity pattern is from the seventies and was size 12, so firstly I altered the pattern to my measurements. I bought the end of the roll and only had 2m to work with, so have shortened the sleeves and hem, didn’t have enough for the tie belt. It’s lined at the bodice and skirt and has 3 buttons to fasten. I love this dress, so practical and will see myself making many more.
faille and cotton lining, 3 buttons, hook & eyes

I love love love this dress! And the fabric is awesome (our subconscious is sometimes a good thing! :-)). And I definitely like the shorter sleeves better!

Very nice! The buttons are really a great detail, and I also like your alterations (i.e. sleeve and dress length).

Thank you. I’ve worn wrap skirts/dresses in the past and there’s nothing worse than having a wind-blown skirt flapping everywhere, so buttons were the answer!!

I have just bought the same pattern. I love your dress – the 3/4 sleve works really well!

I bought my pattern online, think I spent too much, but then I will end up making many more as it’s a great style. Good luck with your dress.

Very nice. I actually really like the 3/4 sleeves, way better than the original I think! You did a great job.

Happy birthday; and I actually think the dress looks better with the thin tan belt (tin-tan-belt say it fast 3 times). Great fabric! I often find myself creatively altering patterns to suit my fabric :(
